 Odyssey was formed in 2003, whose principals have over 15 years of experience in the industry and deal volume of over 5,000 units.  Originally, Odyssey pursued affordable housing projects comprised of both multifamily and single-family rentals.  Odyssey has since moved into mixed-income and market rate properties as well.  We work with a range of institutional and private investors, along with regional and national lenders.

Odyssey’s founding principals had decades of experience in commercial real estate, comprising almost every asset type and asset class.  Principals past experience includes multi-family, industrial, retail, hotels and office spanning from urban core landmark assets through secondary and tertiary markets, including Class A+ to Class C assets. Their expertise and relationships in the capital markets, property management, acquisitions, dispositions, development, and construction management formed a strong base from which Odyssey was able to grow.



Mr. Jafar serves as the President of Odyssey Residential Holdings, LP (ORHLP).  Over the past fifteen years, Saleem has acquired, financed, and developed 25 multifamily and senior projects totaling in excess of $800,000,000 in development cost.  Prior to focusing on multifamily, Jafar has held various senior executive level positions at large real estate firms.  He has served as an SVP of Southmark Corporation, overseeing billions of dollars of transactions and assets during his tenure.  Jafar has experience in all areas of commercial real estate including office, retail, warehouse, hotel, casino, and multi family.

​He holds a BS in Industrial management and Computer Science, along with an MBA from the Stuart School of Management & Finance at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois.  Jafar is listed in Who’s Who of International Professionals & Entrepreneurs, and Who’s Who in the Real Estate and Development Industries. He is a sponsor and member of the North Texas Housing Coalition, and is a member of the Texas Association of Affordable Housing.



Sal serves as a Director of Odyssey, overseeing acquisitions, asset management, and dispositions.  He is involved in each project comprehensively from start to finish, including development, financing, construction, management, and sale.  During his tenure, he has been involved in the development of several thousand units.  He grew up in Dallas, TX attending St. Mark’s School of Texas prior to moving to Chicago, IL, and then back to Dallas, where he attended Southern Methodist University (SMU), and received his Bachelor’s degree in Markets & Culture, Sociology, and a minor in Spanish.

Sal grew up around his father, Saleem Sr., studying blueprints, pro formas, and contracts shortly after he learned to read.  Real Estate is something that flows through his veins.  He was fortunate to be involved with the company since shortly after its inception in various capacities.  He also co-founded a small technology related company in high school, co-founded a consulting firm after college which is still in operation today whose founders have underwritten or asset managed over $1B in assets , co-founded a hospitality company which has received many accolades, and is an active private equity/venture capital investor.  Sal’s primary focus is with Odyssey and multifamily real estate.

Laura acts as a controller, and works closely with the asset management, construction, and development teams at Odyssey.  She plays an integral role in managing the day to day corporate financial activities, managing property-level cash flow & operations, and managing construction draws.
